Nepali Security Guards in Malaysia: What a Staffing Quote Doesn’t Tell You

Nepali Security Guards in Malaysia: What a Staffing Quote Doesn’t Tell You

“Nepali” is the nationality of a guard. It does not indicate to a property manager if that individual has worked at a busy loading bay, can explain an access restriction to visitors or has someone to call if something falls outside the instructions.

But all those details relate directly to the service. It is important to differentiate provider preference for specific personnel from the work to be performed before requesting a Nepali guard.

A Nationality Is Not a Job Description

The guarding post of a residential tower is not the same as a factory’s. Assistance may be needed with visitors and deliveries. Vehicle movements, shift changes, and restricted work areas can be expected at an industrial site.

The hours, location, public contact, reporting and physical requirements of the post should be described in the brief. It should also clarify the level of skill in the language needed for normal communication and emergency situations.

The notion that a Nepalese citizen working in security is necessarily a former soldier or a Gurkha is a claim which should be substantiated.

The issue is the selection of individuals for the actual assignment.

There are Two Different Records to check

A company can have a professional website and a stunning uniform catalogue, but that does not answer the most basic compliance questions.

Private security agencies in Malaysia fall under the Private Agencies Act 1971. The Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) has a public eSIMS verification service to check the current agency licence status. The same system has a separate check for the records of Nepalese security guards.

These are not the same checks: the company’s licence will not verify an individual by itself. Inquire about the provider’s system for reporting and legally employing personnel who are proposed for your property. Personal-document verification should follow suitable, privacy-respecting procedures.

You can get names of companies that provide Nepali security guards simply by searching online. That does not satisfy either check.

TNG Training: Ask About People Assigned.

The Trained Nepalese Guards (TNG) programme forms an integral part of Malaysia’s security-industry training program.

KDN’s 9 January 2026 notice established TNG training quotas for licensed agencies that employed Nepalese guards, and defined these quotas as a condition of renewing the agency’s licence the next year. It’s an agency-level requirement and is not to be interpreted as an assurance that all guards in a company’s labour force have already undergone the programme.

For a specific assignment, inquire about the training the proposed officers have undergone and how the provider can validate that, and how the site-specific briefing will take place.

While training is important, a certificate is not enough to teach someone the loading schedule of a property, its visitor rules or emergency contacts. That information shall be taken from the deployment plan.

Who Succeeds the Assigned Guard When He/She is Absent?

A quotation may include 2 people for 12 hours a day. It can be silent on rest breaks, sickness and holidays, travel and how soon a replacement can get in place.

Such omissions are relevant once the contract has begun. Check who is responsible for the post, how cover is organised and what to do in the event of the named person not being available. Agree on the handover record the next officer will receive.

It can also help define who can alter instructions. The guard should not be required to make the decision as to whose command is valid when a tenant, site manager and contractor are giving conflicting instructions.

These are questions relating to contracts, not birthplace.

Avoid making assumptions; purchase a Defined Service.

Nepalese security guards in Malaysia may be hired to perform various residential as well as business security jobs, depending on the requirements of the job as well as the requirements of the premises. It’s not about one nationality being more disciplined or reliable than another; it’s about qualified people and service plans that are ready to work.

During a request for a proposal, provide a description of the job, inquire about the agency’s process for verifying its personnel, and verify the training, communication, supervision and replacement plans. A provider should be able to provide specific, rather than stereotypical, responses.

If a business is considering its options, it can begin its discussion about the security responsibilities and coverage that a property requires with AEGIS Security Force’s security services.
